Coaching

Why Coaching Rather Than Traditional Therapy

By Marie Demres, Nationally Certified Whole Life Guidance Coach

Picture a person on a journey with a guide. The traveler can see where they have been. The path ahead is harder to make out. The guide does not carry them. The guide helps them see the next stretch more clearly.

That is one way to understand coaching.

As a Nationally Certified Whole Life Guidance Coach, I integrate nervous system work, Parts Work, relationship guidance, and other tools as they fit the person in front of me. The client stays in charge. The aim is not to turn you into a diagnosis. It is to help you notice patterns, settle enough to make a different choice, and move toward the life and relationships you want.

Coaching is not the same as therapy, and it does not replace therapy, medical care, or crisis support when those are needed. I collaborate with other professionals when that serves the client. Some people are already in therapy and want coaching alongside it. Some people want a coaching relationship from the start.

A true coach, as I was taught in my training with Bethany Perry, stands with the client’s own desire to grow. The coach is the tail to a client’s comet.

If you are not sure which path you need, you do not have to decide that alone. A free discovery session is a low-pressure place to talk.
