Relationships

Relationships Are Hard

By Marie Demres, Whole Life Guidance Coach

As I went through one of the toughest times of my life, I felt alone. When my best friend, lover, and husband stopped talking to me, it was like a shade coming down and covering my light, leaving me in a cold place.

I was alone. No matter how many friends and family I had, there was no one like my husband.

When this happened to me, I kept searching for the key, a way back into the warmth of that relationship. Every time I made an attempt to communicate, I was rejected. That rejection sent me into a depression that was farther down than I had been before. It would take me a month before I could get the courage to try again, only to have the same result. I would try different ways to get his attention and to make him understand that I needed him. It didn’t work. I went to a coach who was empathetic and helpful. He helped me trudge through the sludge of my relationship and my own choices in life.

Eventually, I started to see a light in myself, and I moved toward it. I found happiness and love for myself. God and the coach helped me create a beautiful life, one step at a time. It wasn’t easy, but it was worth it. Because of this experience, I’m here now to help others who are going through this type of relationship challenge.

There are many ways that relationships break down. This is one of them. Sometimes it’s constant fighting and disagreements. Other times it’s silence and lack of affection. Or it may be betrayal.

When a relationship needs help, I meet with both people together and separately, depending on the situation. I listen. I help you pinpoint where you want to go. I guide you back to the strength inside yourself.

“She helps me to see myself from another angle.” M.M.

“I felt like she was right there with me as I went through my trauma. I wasn’t alone.” D.W.

Have the relationship you want

If you’re looking for guidance in a relationship, this can be a starting place: self-awareness, acceptance, love, and hope for the future. Leave behind shame, guilt, and judgment. Be ready to receive the work.

A small exercise to begin

Don’t rush. Take your time.

See yourself now. Notice your moods, body, attitude, health, activities, and the triggers that break you. Draw or describe yourself, the people around you, and whatever else seems important.

Then visualize yourself in six months to a year. Draw or describe your best self and life: activities, moods, how you want your body to feel, how you want to respond to the same triggers, what makes you happy, and who is with you.

Notice the difference. If you want guidance getting from now to later, book a free discovery session.

There is no magic. There is time. The time is now.
